Content Abstract: David Bowen was a publisher, bookseller, teacher and an actor. Bowen was also a member of various Texas literary and civic groups. Correspondence, financial material and other records relating to the business and personal activities of bookseller and publisher David Bowen. The bulk of the papers concern Corona Publishing Company, the small press founded by Bowen in San Antonio, Texas, and documents the challenges facing small publishers in the 1980s and 1990s. Bowen's involvement with HemisFair '68 is prominent in the collection.

Content Abstract: Leo Garza was a political cartoonist who drew for the San Antonio Express News from 1987 to 2007. His daily strip cartoons touched on a variety of national and local topics, from national and state elections, to San Antonio social and cultural events. Characters Nacho Gurache and his sidekick Fulano entertained readers with their comical misadventures and often frank commentary on San Antonio life. The collection is comprised of original pen and ink and mixed media comic panels and strips, composed on matte paper and art board.

Content Abstract: Frederich Perine was an avid collector of historic bibles and early printing examples. Perine created his collection in 1915, and in the 1960s it attracted the attention of Harry and Alma Dietert, who encouraged and contributed to its development. The Perine-Dietert Collection contains single leaves, fragments, and facsimiles of written or printed religious and secular works from the East and West dating back to approximately 200 CE. The bulk of the collection is comprised of bibles and religious works ranging from the 16th century to the 1970s.

Content Abstract: Nubian Notes was a quarterly magazine published in San Antonio, Texas with a circulation of 3,500 that addressed the importance of history in the African American community. Eight volumes were published from 1995-1996 with Arrie Barnes Porter as editor and Nicholas Barrón II as graphic designer. The collection consists of 4 volumes of the publication, correspondence, advertising materials, photographs, news clippings and Arrie Barnes Porter's notebook.

Content Abstract: Dr. Ricardo Romo and Dr. Harriett Romo are educators and avid collectors of art that represents the rich diversity of Latino culture. The collection is comprised of contemporary Chicano art prints, photographs, and lithographs.

Content Abstract: John Shown was an artist known for his collages and stitchery wall hangings. Shown created Forum magazine, an Artists Forum of Texas publication and Nuevo en todas las artes, the first freely distributed magazine of art and entertainment in Mexico. The collection documents Shown's work as an artist while living in San Antonio through journals, inventories, photographs, and slides depicting Shown's artwork. Also in the collection are issues ofForum magazine of as well as photographs and print materials related to the publication. The collection holds two issues of Nuevo en todas las artes, a Cornyation manuscript, other written work, and correspondence from Shown's time spent in Mexico.

Content Abstract: Storyletters is an international publication of women’s writing founded, edited, and produced by Dr. Katharine Kittu Riddle. Riddle began the publication in 1993 to provide a place for women to contribute and share their stories. Issues of Storyletters contain poetry, correspondence, and true stories written and contributed by women from around the world. The records consist of a brief history, issues of Storyletters, correspondence, and publications. Collectively, the records document the lives and experiences of women from diverse cultures through their own writing. The collection also provides insight into readers' opinions and views on the publication.

Content Abstract: The Zine Collection is a collection assembled by UTSA Libraries Special Collections. The collection consists of over 250 zines, most of which originate from San Antonio and other locations in Texas.
