Content Abstract: David Bowen was a publisher, bookseller, teacher and an actor. Bowen was also a member of various Texas literary and civic groups. Correspondence, financial material and other records relating to the business and personal activities of bookseller and publisher David Bowen. The bulk of the papers concern Corona Publishing Company, the small press founded by Bowen in San Antonio, Texas, and documents the challenges facing small publishers in the 1980s and 1990s. Bowen's involvement with HemisFair '68 is prominent in the collection.

Content Abstract: Alexander Caragonne was an architect who co-founded the San Antonio-based firm Reyna/Caragonne Architects. He was also an author and educator who taught throughout his career. The bulk of the collection consists of architectural plans, photographs, slides, manuscripts, and assorted print materials.

Content Abstract: Mary Carolyn Hollers George is a writer and architectural historian. The collection consists of research notes, audio tapes of interviews, notes on the interviews and correspondence about her research. Most of the material dates from 1978 to 1988.

The papers primarily document Houston's involvement in San Antonio theater through scripts, screenplays, programs, and press materials. Also included are correspondence, research materials, project files, photographs, and audiovisual materials.

Content Abstract: Carl Lahser is a resident of San Antonio, Texas. He founded Pretense Press (San Antonio, Tex.) in 1994 and is its sole owner. He travels and writes about his trips. Lahser also writes poetry on a variety of topics. The collection consists of Carl Lahser's travel diaries, short stories and poetry collections.

Content Abstract: Bryce Milligan is the author of three volumes of poetry, five historical novels, and more than 2,000 articles. He is the publisher/editor of Wings Press and former director of the literature program at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center. The bulk of the collection documents Milligan's work in the literary community through book projects, poetry chapbooks, book fair materials and correspondence.

Content Abstract: Naomi Shihab Nye has published several books of poetry, writings for children, novels and columns. Nye has also worked as a visiting writer in schools at all grade levels and universities and has won several national awards. The collection includes the typescripts, manuscripts, drafts, proofs, and other pre-publication forms of the writings of poet and writer Naomi Shihab Nye. Writings include early and revised drafts of poems, essays, and other writings. Published work is supplemented by hundreds of unpublished poems. These working papers are accompanied by notebooks dating back to Nye's school years, an extensive correspondence file with authors, editors, publishers, family members and fans, copies of her publications in book form, and her contributions to books and journals. Also present is extensive material about Nye, including audiovisual materials, work relating to her teaching in public schools, and photographs.

Content Abstract: Carmen Perry was the first Special Collections Librarian in the Library of the University of Texas at San Antonio. She held this position from 1974 until her retirement in 1981. She was named a fellow by the Texas State Historical Association subsequent to the 1975 publication of With Santa Anna in Texas: A Personal Narrative of the Revolution, her translation of the "De la Peña diary" (La Rebelión de Texas). The collection spans the years 1973 through 1988 and documents Perry's tenure as Special Collections Librarian at the University of Texas at San Antonio Library, the publication of Perry's With Santa Anna in Texas: A Personal Narrative of the Revolution, and subsequent primary source research in Spain. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, minutes, manuscripts for publication, photographs, clippings, and other materials.

Content Abstract: Mario Marcel Salas was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 30, 1949. Salas became an advocate for San Antonio's African-American community in the early 1970s and was a key member of local activist groups such as the San Antonio chapter of the Student National Coordinating Committee, Organizations United for Eastside Development, Black Coalition on Mass Media, and Frontline 2000. He was elected to the City Council of San Antonio in 1997, where he served two full terms as Representative for District 2. The collections spans the years 1968 through 2016 and consists of materials spanning a wide range of Salas' interests. Items include photographs and publications, information about organizations, people, topics, and events of interest to Salas, such as revolutionary and progressive political movements in the U.S. and abroad, police brutality, and political prisoners.

He was a program officer at the Ford Foundation and has produced over forty broadcast documentaries on culture, religion, politics and spirituality for CBS News. The bulk of the materials include research notebooks, edited manuscripts (drafts for publication), reviews, clippings, and audiovisual materials including video tapes and sound recordings.

Content Abstract: Storyletters is an international publication of women’s writing founded, edited, and produced by Dr. Katharine Kittu Riddle. Riddle began the publication in 1993 to provide a place for women to contribute and share their stories. Issues of Storyletters contain poetry, correspondence, and true stories written and contributed by women from around the world. The records consist of a brief history, issues of Storyletters, correspondence, and publications. Collectively, the records document the lives and experiences of women from diverse cultures through their own writing. The collection also provides insight into readers' opinions and views on the publication.

Content Abstract: R. D. Warden joined the staff of his father's newspaper, the Great Falls Tribune, in 1925. He rose from cub reporter to executive editor and was part owner of the paper until it was sold in 1965. From that time until his death in 1979, he pursued his interest in Western art and history with his wife, Margaret S. Warden. Margaret S. Warden was involved in libraries and information services on the state and national level, and served as a Montana state senator. The collection spans the years 1835 through 1990 and includes brochures and maps for state and national parks of the Western and Northwestern states; art prints, gallery guides, exhibition catalogs, periodicals and prints (some reproductions) of art and artists of Western subjects; maps, government documents, tourist brochures, pamphlets, souvenir books, and articles about Native Americans and the cities and regions of the American West.

Content Abstract: Sam and Bess Woolford were journalists and historians working in Texas in the twentieth century. The collection's manuscripts, research notes and other material document Texas history and folklore. A large number of Texas newspapers are also included. Most of the material dates from 1930-1975. Mr. Woolford wrote a column in the San Antonio Light from 1955 to 1975. The Woolford's Tales column spanned topics such as Texan archeology, Texan history and biographies of Texans. Most of these columns are in the collection. Additional writings by Mr. Woolford and his wife as well as their collection of Texana are held within this collection.
