Content Abstract: John Robert Peace, Jr. (1917-1974) was a Texas lawyer and public official. He served on the University of Texas Board of Regents from 1967-1973 (Chair, 1971-1973). He is credited with being a driving force in the establishment of the University of Texas at San Antonio. Peace also was an avid collector of Texana, and he amassed a collection of about 900 books and 500 manuscripts, some dating back to the 1700s. The collection is comprised of materials collected by John R. Peace, Jr. Materials document Texas history. Historical manuscripts comprise more than 350 documents--both original manuscripts and printed material--related to Texas history, concentrating on the periods before 1860. The documents consist of historical manuscripts, copies and transcriptions of original documents, dated 1825-1840. Other documents, mostly undated but circa 1954, consist of letters, newspaper articles, transcriptions, drafts and notes.

Attridge were two educators from Boston who vacationed in Mexico in 1948.Collection consists of one scrapbook and one photograph album detailing Quaglia and Attridge's vacation to Mexico in 1948, as well as their stops in San Antonio and New Orleans on their return to Boston.

Content Abstract: The Kathryn Stoner O'Connor Mexican Manuscript Collection, collected by the Sons of the Republic of Texas, comprises 30 linear feet of printed and manuscript documents, periodicals, pamphlets, and broadsides, predominantly written in Spanish, and ranging in date from the 16th through the 20th centuries. The collection includes government documents, financial records, legal petitions, political and ecclesiastical decrees, wills and legal testaments, and personal and business letters. The collection covers a broad array of topics, including information on government, politics, finances, work, religion, social status, marriage and family, and numerous other subjects of social and historical interest.

Content Abstract: Anecdotal evidence suggests that the creator of this album was a teacher in or near Del Rio, Texas. Collection consists of one photograph album, circa 1914-1923. Photographs include landscapes of Del Rio, Texas and Mexico, as well as family photographs from vacations and military service.

Content Abstract: Vicente Filisola (1789-1850) was commissioned as Lopez de Santa-Anna's second in command during the campaign against Texas. After the defeat and capture of Santa-Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto, it fell to Filisola to evacuate Mexican forces from Texas despite heavy opposition from other officers, including José Francisco Urrea (1797-1849). Urrea replaced Filisola as general in command after the retreat, and was determined to continue fighting. However, due to Santa-Anna's orders, he was forced to withdraw. Collection contains nine letters and other documents by two Mexican generals concerning the Battle of the Alamo and the immediate aftermath of the Battle of San Jacinto.

Content Abstract: The John William Warren Papers are composed primarily of correspondence but also include legal documents. Portions of these documents are in the Spanish language. The legal documents cover the period from 1902 to 1948. Included within the papers is Autos de General Visita de Orcasitas, a handwritten document from 1768. The John William Warren Papers represent Texas business relations with Mexico in the early twentieth century.

Content Abstract: Sebron Sneed Wilcox founded the Laredo Historical Society (Laredo, Tex.) and was a member of the Texas Historical Commission for Webb County, Texas. Wilcox was a Texas historian, writing several articles based on materials in the Laredo Archives. He worked as a court reporter for the Forth-ninth District in Laredo from 1911-1958. The Sebron Sneed Wilcox papers span the years 1749 through 1968 and consist of his collected and written documents regarding the history of Laredo, Texas. The papers consist of correspondence, Laredo history, lawsuit and trial transcriptions, speeches and documentation on the various celebrations held in Laredo.

Content Abstract: Robert Willson was an internationally known artist who was educated in the Southwest United States and Mexico. In his early twenties he studied in Mexico and was among the first American artists to adapt Mayan and Mexican folk art imagery in his art. Willson's later work merged Ancient Mayan imagery with Italian glass sculpture techniques. The collection consists of photographs from Robert Willson's two educational trips to Mexico, with a focus on the local people and culture. Also included are signed photographs of artists he befriended, and promotional flyers for Socialism in Mexico.
