Gilbert C. (Gil) Barrera was a freelance photographer who was employed by the University of Texas at San Antonio to photograph its building and organization from 1972 to 1978. The collection consists of photographic negatives and contact sheets created by Gil Barrera from 1972 through 1978 while employed to photograph the physical complex and activities of the University of Texas at San Antonio. Among the subjects represented in the collection are construction projects, ceremonies, graduating classes, concerts, distinguished visitors, conference participants, students, professors, and members of the University of Texas administration and Board of Regents.

Bess Hieronymus was a professor emeritus in the UTSA Department of Music. Hieronymus was the first woman appointed to full professor at UTSA and the first person to receive a doctor of musical arts degree in organ performance and musicology from the University of Texas at Austin. He was the first president of the National Association for Bilingual Education, twice served as the president of the Texas Association for Bilingual Education, he was selected as U.S. representative at the International Colloquium in Bilingualism and Biculturalism, Paris, France, and he was also selected as chairman of the National Advisory Panel to the National Clearinghouse on Bilingual Education. Jacinto Quirarte was a professor emeritus and former dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). As an art historian and author, he concentrated on Pre-Columbian and Chicano art history. The papers span the years 1944 through 2009 and include correspondence, speeches, administrative records, articles, manuscripts for publication, newsletters, posters, and photographs. The bulk of the materials date from the 1970s to the 1990s. The collection documents Quirarte’s career at UTSA as founding dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts (now the College of Liberal and Fine Arts) and a professor emeritus. Research materials focus on Pre-Columbian and Chicano art, in addition to research on the Spanish Missions in Texas.

The collection spans the years 1967 through 2018 and includes general materials documenting the history and development of the University of Texas at San Antonio. Materials include correspondence and memoranda, programs and invitations, speeches and presentations, organizational charts, meeting minutes, self-study reports and accreditation files, magazine articles, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, booklets on the establishment of the university, a copy of the legislative bill that established the UTSA, a Faculty Handbook, audiotapes, audiocassettes, and other materials. Materials seem to have emanated primarily from the office of the second UTSA President, Peter T. Flawn, but the collection also includes material from the offices of Presidents Arleigh Templeton, James Wagener, Samuel Kirkpatrick, Ricardo Romo, and Taylor Eighmy.

The College of Business was one of the first five colleges established at the University of Texas at San Antonio. The College of Business has overseen a number of research institutes, including the Institute for Studies in Business (ISB), the Center for Studies in Business, Economics, and Human Resources, the Human Resources and Development Program, Center for Global Entrepreneurship, and the Center for Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship (CITE). The Department of Art and Art History dates back to the earliest years of the University of Texas at San Antonio. The studio art curriculum was designed to prepare students for either professional careers in studio art or for teaching. The main fields of concentration have included painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, and ceramics. Records consist of 100 fine art prints in five suites. These prints were either collected or produced by members of the Art Department, and were created using a variety of printmaking techniques, including lithography, intaglio, etching, and serigraphy.

The Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC), a museum and campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio, was established in 1965 by the 59th Texas Legislature. Its first director was R. Henderson Shuffler, who served as director from 1965-1975. Originally housing the Texas Pavilion at HemisFair '68, it was designed to study the ethnic groups that settled in Texas. In addition to its 50,000 square feet of exhibits featuring twenty-seven cultures and ethnic groups, the institute hosts the Texas Children's Festival, Pioneer Sunday, the Texas Folklife Festival, and other events. The collection spans the years 1941 through 2003 and includes the administrative records of various Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) departments. The records document the history of the ITC and its relationship with HemisFair '68, as well as exhibit planning, instructional programs, and projects planned by or proposed to the ITC. These materials were transferred to the Institute of Texan Cultures Library to be stored temporarily; the origin of most of these materials is unclear.

The Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) A-Team was a group of administrative assistants, formed circa 1993, to aid ITC departments in clerical tasks or special projects. The group, part of the Executive Director's office, would help out departments without administrative support staff. Collection documents Texas sesquicentennial celebrations in 1986 and 1995, HemisFair Park redevelopment, local public television station KLRN, UTSA's establishment of a campus in downtown San Antonio, the San Antonio River Walk, and assorted other topics. The Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC), a museum located on the Hemisfair Campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio, was established in 1965 by the 59th Texas Legislature. The Exhibit Floor Task Group formed circa 1993 and was a long range, cross-departmental planning committee charged with developing a master plan for the renovation of the ITC's Exhibit Floor. Their work involved benchmarking, developing a philosophy of exhibits, conducting research and user surveys, and visiting other museum sites. The collection spans the years 1992 through 1998 and includes meeting minutes, reports, correspondence, notes, and electronic documents. Also included are blueprints of the ITC exhibit floor and exhibits, as well as exhibits of other museums.

The ITC's Production Division was the creative agency responsible for the production of educational books, study guides, promotional materials, publications, exhibits, stage sets, audiovisual and multimedia pieces, and demonstration materials. The collection includes manuscripts, publication files, pamphlets, study guides, and other publications produced by the Division. Production Division projects included the Ethnic Series, a series of Institute of Texan Cultures publications pertaining to individual ethnic/cultural groups in Texas. Also included in the collection are materials produced as part of books for other entities outside the Institute of Texan Cultures.

The Texas Folklife Festival was first held in 1972 as an extension of the educational programs of the Institute of Texan Cultures museum. The Classified Staff Affairs Committee of the University of Texas at San Antonio Library formed in 2004 to advocate for the library's classified employees (at-will employees who serve without tenure) and to act as a liaison between the classified employees and the library's administration. The committee also sponsored events, forums, and meetings of interest to library staff, as well as other functions. The committee met approximately monthly. Dr. Jude Valdez was the first and only Vice President for Downtown Operations. The office was dissolved in approximately 1995.
